Eremophila longifolia (long leafed desert lover) has rugged limbs, weathered leaves and a sophisticated flower. Among the wildflowers in central Australia, this specie doesn’t stand out, it hides away as a small tree 2-5metres with sparse flowers that start off as cute little green buds, with a hair stamen poking out, and then blooming into its typical tubular flower. It’s weathered and intricate detail in its features is what makes this specie special.

I had to go to Trephina Gorge out of town to really see the abundance of the specie. It was rainy, cold and the road was blocked off from any hikes, so I opened up the boot, sat in the back sketching.
